Weight Loss Tips for Female Bodybuilders

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Whether you are a fitness enthusiast or someone serious about female bodybuilding, you need to understand that there is a difference between how the female body is constructed when compared to a male body.

Here are some key differences.

For example, the female body is a higher body fat percentage when compared to a male body. That means it is natural for you to look less defined.

Most ladies just want a well toned body. Usually, only those who are taking part in special competitions need to build muscles with definitions.

The process of strength building is similar. But if you want definition, you may need to consult with health experts.

In general, most women just want to improve their metabolism so that their bodies can burn away the fat, which makes them look unsightly.

Losing weight is all about improving the metabolism. That is the only way to achieve long term health benefits.

Never attempt to try starving diet methods. Those methods have been proven to fail. Maybe you start losing a few pounds in the beginning because you haven’t been eating well.

But you could be losing water, fat or worse - muscles! When you lose muscles, your metabolism rate decreases. And that means your ability to burn fat has gone down.

The body cannot be starving forever. Sooner or later, you will have to eat. It’s just cyclical.

When you do start eating again, you usually find that you will gain back all the weight you have lost. In fact, most people experience an increase in weight because now the body is storing all the fats due to a lower metabolism!

The answer is to exercise. And I’m not talking about leisure exercises like walking or jogging. It has to be intense enough so that you start building up your muscles.

Don’t worry about looking like a she-hulk when you start working out. You find that it’s not so easy, especially for females. Unlike males, the female body does not bulk up as easily as males. Those women with ripping muscles you see in the magazines? Well, those are meant to provide entertainment. And they are mostly professional bodybuilders.

You don’t have to look like that. In fact, it’s VERY difficult for you to achieve that kind of results. You will have to have a very strict diet and consume all kinds of supplements and get your body fat to a very low percentage. Very few people can achieve that.

So start working out. If you haven’t been working out, start with a workout program that is manageable. You realize that your muscles become very sore the next day. In part, this is because you haven’t been using them very much!

But it’s the right direction. When you workout, your muscles respond to the stress. That’s why it’s sore. Now all you have to do is to give it ample rest and nutrition and allow it to grow.

Don’t make the mistake of stressing your muscles too much. It will just lead to injury. And there goes your workout program.

Be patient, exercise consistently, rest well and eat well. That’s the proven formula for a healthy lifestyle.
